Meet the Intern- Katelyn

My name is Katelyn and I am one of LifeStart’s newest dietetic interns. I will be a senior at Illinois State University and graduating in 2020 with my Bachelor of Science degree, specifically Food, Nutrition and Dietetics. My goal is to become a registered dietitian and further my education by completing a Master of Science degree. I have always been interested in learning about the nutrients in foods that individuals consume and what it does for the body. I wanted to gain this knowledge not only to improve my health but the health of others. It was easy for me to decide that dietetics would be my field of study due to my passion for nutrition. There are five members of my family, I am the youngest of two older sisters. My oldest sister recently graduated with her doctorate of pharmacy and my other sister is currently in school to become a physical therapy assistant. My parents are pleased about our fields of study because they can ask their daughters any health related questions! Even though I will be encouraging and practicing healthy habits as a dietitian, I still enjoy eating pizza and chipotle from time to time. I am a huge fan of smoothies and make them on a regular basis. My go to breakfast is a poached egg on avocado toast with spinach and my favorite snack is a banana with almond butter. Even though I am very busy most days, I do my best to take the time to prepare healthy meals for myself. As I begin my internship I look forward to all the knowledge, experience, and new relationships I will gain through LifeStart!
