My Inspiration: I would have to go with my dad. Growing up he taught me almost everything I knew about sports and fitness, not to mention he was the one that really taught me that everything is earned and nothing is just given to you. He was always reminding me that talent and natural abilities would only get you so far, and that work ethic and being willing to do the things that other people are not is what sets you apart from the rest.

Favorite Teaching Moment: If I'm being honest, it probably would have to be when I taught my dog to get the newspaper every morning :) but relative to fitness, I think the most satisfying thing that you can teach somebody is executing a squat correctly. While it is one of the most basic and important moves of fitness, there are so many moving parts that it is very easy for people to have a variety of different problem areas with the movement. When you get somebody to execute a squat that looks exactly how you explain, I think it's an awesome feeling.

Fitness Philosophy: Just like my dad taught me, everything is earned and nothing is given. You probably aren't going to get where you want to be just be coming to see a trainer 2-3 times a week. It will absolutely get you moving in the direction you want to go, but you need to be willing to do other things and make some sacrifices to achieve what you really want. You need to be willing to put in the extra time at the gym by yourself, to prepare your meals before your work day or even before your work week, and most of all you need to make yourself a priority. You have to understand that every ounce of progress is something that you need to earn, it's not just going to happen. You really do get out of it what you put into it, and if you are willing to go all in on yourself then there is nothing you can't achieve!

Favorite Workout: Olympic Weightlifting. While it is still something that I am fairly new to (I have been doing it about 8-10 months), I try to work on it pretty regularly because I believe it is a great challenge and there aren't many feelings greater than hitting a new PR on one of my Olympic lifts!

Favorite Workout Snacks: Before a workout, I usually keep it pretty simple. More times than not I am either having some oatmeal or a banana. After a workout I will eat pretty much anything with peanut butter; or else I will cook up some eggs, which I often eat with toast and peanut butter.

Random Fact: I do not ever drink coffee, or any caffeine (not even pre-workout). People think I am crazy and don't understand how I survive without it, but even on the mornings when I start at 6 AM you will find me drinking nothing but water!
